Get away from it all and enjoy the warm welcome and surroundings of Springwell Barn. PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO EXTENSIVE BUILDING WORKS AT THE HOUSE, THERE MAYBE SOME NOISE BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 8AM-4PM MONDAY TO FRIDAY. We are set in a waterside location adjacent to the Grand Union Canal, River Colne, and surrounded by weeping willows and wildlife-reserve lakes.

The Barn Room
This delightful, cosy room is within the Big Barn in the main house. It has its own private dining area for breakfast and the use of a microwave, fridge, toaster & kettle with crockery & cutlery for you to bring your own meals or takeaways.

Springwell Barn is an exclusive boutique bed & breakfast for the discerning traveller. PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO EXTENSIVE BUILDING WORK, THERE MAYBE SOME NOISE AND DISRUPTION BETWEEN 8AM-4PM MONDAY - FRIDAY.
We are fairly unique in a beautiful location. We are implementing extra cleaning measures between guests on all touch points. There is plenty of outdoor space to relax and enjoy the view (weather permitting!). Please note that breakfast is not included in the room rate, and is unavailable at this time. Both rooms have the use of a fridge, kettle, toaster and microwave and crockery & cutlery for you to do your own thing.

We are particularly popular with business travellers and are close by to Skanska, Renault, Nissan, Bosch UK, Camelot, and Northwood NATO HQ.
Families
Families love staying here, especially as we're particularly close to Warner Brothers Studios for Harry Potter fans. It is also popular for families to book both of the bedrooms and have the place to themselves for a family get together. There's lots to do around and about and plenty of fun to be had in the garden too!
Newly Weds
We have many newlywed couples come and stay on their wedding night. We can scatter the bed with rose petals and put fresh flowers and a bottle of bubbly in the room for an extra charge. Please contact us for more details.

Springwell Barn is a perfect getaway for couples wanting a romantic escape to the country in a peaceful & secluded setting.
Walkers, cyclists, kayakers, canoeists and boaters love us as we are located right on the Grand Union canal and ideally placed to explore the local area.
THE GLOWING INFORMATIVE BIT
Springwell Barn is a gorgeous barn conversion set in the Hertfordshire countryside. It has a serene waterside location adjacent to the Grand Union Canal, River Colne, and is surrounded by weeping willows and wildlife-reserve lakes.We are close to all the London airports, Rickmansworth station is on the Metropolitan line tube into central London and the Chiltern Line overground train is super-fast into London Marylebone in 25 minutes.
THE HISTORICAL BIT
The area around Springwell was originally known as Gulch's Wells. This part of the Grand Union canal was built in 1796 and caused some local controversy when some of the wells were covered over by the canal. There are several wells still in existence including one bang in the middle of our kitchen floor, which we discovered during renovation in 2001.
The original beams at Springwell Barn date back to the late eighteenth century and due to the presence of natural springs, Springwell Water was bottled up until the last century. We have recovered many old bottles from the garden, which are on display in our hallway. The grounds were used as watercress beds up until 1984 and we have two natural springs still bubbling away.
